Hello and welcome to therapy!

My name is MK and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) specializing in working with children (6+,) teens, , adults, parents, veterans, & couples. In addition to my LCMHCA credential, I am also a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and Licensed Recreation Therapist (LRT.) With both credentials, I enjoy using a more holistic approach by assisting you in healing your mind and body through movement, talk, and play therapy. My theoretical orientations include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (exploring how our thoughts affect our behaviors affect our feelings affect our thoughts...) and Solution-Focused Therapy (short-term and goal-oriented.) I enjoy working with various populations because I like helping as many people as possible. I also offer Christian counseling, upon request, and serve on the board for North Carolina Association for Spiritual, Ethical, Religious, and Value Issues in Counseling.

My academic background: I received a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Catawba College in 2021. I received a Master of Health Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Catawba College as well in 2024. Throughout my educational and professional experiences, I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work with several populations including children, adolescents, adults, children with disabilities and their parents, and veterans.

I am located in Wilmington, NC and enjoy doing anything with my dog, Allie, in my spare time. Allie is a psychiatric service animal and will go with me to the beach, to Trader Joe's, and downtown to the riverwalk among other places. As physical fitness is an important aspect in my life, I also enjoy participating in some adult sport leagues, working out, and taking Allie on runs!
